Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, Oct. 29 at 8:30 a.m.
It’s chilly out there this morning-stop by and grab some neoprene before you paddle out, we have full suits and spring suits on the floor. Check it out!
Waves at the pier this morning are averaging knee to thigh high with a slightly bigger set.
It looks like it might be kinda’ fun on the longboard this morning, but there are no takers.
Winds are W at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is clean.
We expect north-west winds this afternoon, and very clean surf all day.
We have a high tide at 11:50 a.m., and a low tide will be at 6:21 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 6.9 ft. at 6 seconds in a short period, west/south-west wind-swell, with a ground swell running 1.0 ft. at 12 seconds, which is the small, long-period ground-swell showing at the pier early this morning.
We should see small, long-period ground swell from distant Hurricane Oscar ( well south-east of Bermuda) today make for a small long-board wave through the high tide. We see clean conditions as a dry cold front passage pushes winds north-west this afternoon. Bring the long-board and get the glide going. Long-period swell fades for Tuesday afternoon as Oscar moves more to the north. We see choppy, short-period pre-frontal south/south-west wind swell fill in Thursday into Friday as another cold front approaches.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A dry cold front will move offshore this morning, then be followed by high pressure through mid week. A stronger cold front will slowly traverse the area Thursday into Friday. High pressure returns for the weekend.”
It’s AWESOME weather here at the beach. It’s 64* and sunny. Look for a high of 76* and sun today.
Water temperature is now 73*, and it’s dropping fast.
Sunset is at 6:30 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:35 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
