Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, October 30 at 9:30 a.m.
It’s chilly out there this morning-stop by and grab some neoprene before you paddle out, we have full suits and spring suits on the floor. Check it out!
Waves at the pier this morning are flat.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots, and surf is side-shore and semi-choppy.
We expect north-east winds at 10 knots today, with weak, semi-choppy surf.
High tide will be at 12:51 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:21 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 4.5 seconds on a high angled north/north-east wind swell with a long-period south-east ground swell 1 ft. at 12 seconds.
We should see small, long-period ground swell from distant Hurricane Oscar for Wednesday morning, with cleaner conditions for the longboard. We see choppy, short-period pre-frontal south/south-west wind swell fill in starting late Wednesday, building into Thursday into Friday as another cold front approaches, then moves off-shore on Friday evening. Surf should average waist-to-chest by Thursday, with some drift and plenty of chop. Friday, winds go south-west and chew up south wind swell. Hope for a quick clean-up Friday evening, but it depends on the timing of the front.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Wednesday. A cold front will traverse the area late Thursday into Friday. High pressure will then return for the weekend, followed by unsettled weather early next week.”
It’s AWESOME weather here at the beach. It’s 61* and sunny. Look for a high of 76* and sun today.
