Tropical Storm Leslie continues moving east in the Atlantic today, taking with it the majority of the ground swell we saw this weekend. We see a strong, punchy east/south-east trade-wind swell fill in this week thanks to on-shore winds compliments of high pressure to our east and what is now Tropical Storm Michael moving into the Gulf during the work week. Look for a strong Cat 1 hurricane near the Florida Panhandle mid-week, enhancing on-shore wind and rain for our marine area as the storm crosses land and takes a swipe at us during the second half of the work week. So, we have some big, choppy, short period wind waves on tap this week.
Your NOAA MarinWeather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will weaken into Monday. Tropical Storm Michael will move north across the Gulf of Mexico early this week, possibly making landfall as hurricane along the Florida Panhandle. Michael will weaken as it moves across the Southeast U.S. Wednesday into Thursday. Refer to the latest advisory on Tropical Storm Michael issued by the National Hurricane Center.”
