Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, Sept. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
We have lots of new neoprene jackets and spring-suits on the floor, so come get one as it starts to cool off in the coming weeks.
Surf at the Pier is averaging waist to stomach high with chest high sets. Occasionally, slightly bigger.
Winds are south at 15 to 20 knots. Surf is choppy and drifty.
Look for south winds at 15 knots today, and choppy wind swell at the beach all day.
We have a low tide as of report time this morning, high tide will be at 3 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:11 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 6.9 ft. at 6 seconds in a mix of medium period south-east ground swell and short period south wind swell.
We see south wind swell continue today in the waist to stomach high range with bigger sets as the tide comes in. We see wind swell continue, but fading some, as we approach the middle of your work week. We see high pressure and north-east winds moving through the area Wednesday. Wind chop surf fades out mid-week, but we should have choppy waves to ride for a few days. Some of the sand has moved around at The Washout, but it’s still not breaking NEAR as well as the Pier.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak trough will develop inland today through Tuesday, then push offshore Wednesday as high pressure builds from the west then prevails through late week. A cold front could approach the region early next week.”
It’s 80* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 86* with a 20% chance of rain and mostly cloudy skies today.
Water temperature is 85*.
Sunset is at 7:23 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:04 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
