Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, September 16 at 8:30 a.m.
We are open this morning, so come on by and see us at Ocean Surf Shop. We hope everyone had a safe “hurri-cation,” and send out love to all of our friends in Eastern North Carolina.
Surf at the pier is averaging waist to chest high with head high sets in supper choppy south wind waves.
Winds are south at 20 to 25 knots.
Look for south winds at 15 to 20 knots today, and choppy wind swell at the beach all day.
We are coming off a low tide, high tide will be at 2:06 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:15 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 8.2 ft at 6 seconds in a mix of long period south-east ground swell and short period south/south-west wind swell.
We see south wind swell today and into the first half of the work week. South winds are following tropical depression Florence up into the middle part of the state, and should continue to push in choppy south wind swell through Tuesday night as south winds eventually become south-west. Wind chop surf fades out mid-week, but we should have choppy waves to ride for a few days.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Florence will continue to move west through South Carolina today and over the mountains tonight. Weak troughing is forecasted inland during the middle of next week followed by a cold front approaching the region towards the second half of next week.”
It’s 79* and mostly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 85* with a 50% chance of rain and storms today.
Water temperature is 85*.
Sunset is at 7:23 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:04 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
