Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, October 15 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the pier this morning are knee-to-thigh high, weak, choppy wind swell.
Winds are south at 10 to 15 knots. Surf is choppy.
Look for south-east winds at around 10 knots today, and surf should be choppy to semi-choppy all day.
We are just coming off a low tide at daybreak, and high tide is at 1:22 p.m., and the day’s next low tide will be at 7:35 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 5 seconds in short period south-east wind swell.
We have high pressure set up over our marine area, and surf looks to be fairly small through Tuesday, before a cold front approaches our marine area and tries to push up some east/north-east wind swell starting Wednesday and building for Thursday. For the first time in a long time, there’s not a tropical system pushing waves into the beach, so just enjoy this five-star weather.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure and above-normal temperatures will prevail until a cold front crosses the region late Wednesday. Cooler high pressure will then build over the region into next weekend. Another, stronger cold front may push into the area by late next weekend.”
It’s 71* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 84* today with sun and a 20% chance of a stray shower.
Water temperature is now 79* after the cooler weather we had over the weekend.
Sunset is at 6:45 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:23 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
