Pier December 11th

clean

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee High
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: chilly!

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, December 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the pier this morning are in the knee high range.

Winds are north-west at 10 knots, and surf zone is clean, though breaking fairly close to shore.

Look for NW winds to increase up to 15 knots today, switching W tonight into tomorrow.

High tide is at 10:18 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:31 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading a whopping 4.6 ft at 5.1 seconds in an ENE ground swell with a short period NNW wind swell. It’s beautiful out there, but a little too close to shore to really make anything count.  Look for knee high conditions becoming smaller midday with high tide.  As winds switch offshore over night, we can expect similarly clean conditions tomorrow with something likely to ride in the a.m. Any sizeable swell we see this week will likely be short period, choppy surf into the weekend as another storm system and high pressure move in from the NW.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough will move offshore this morning. High pressure will then prevail through Thursday. A storm system will affect the area Thursday night into Saturday morning, followed by another area of high pressure.”

It’s a cold 40* this morning with a little sun through the clouds. Look for a high of 54* and mostly sunny skies later today.

Water temperature has dropped to 55*.

Sunrise was at 7:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
