Pier June 20th

choppy, sideshore,

Time of Report: 8:00 a.m.
Wave Forecast: stomach +
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: current

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, June 20th at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Pier this morning are stomach high with an occasional chest high wave coming through.  It is fairly disorganized and no one is out this morning.

Winds are WSW at 10-15 knots, and surf is side-shore with some clean faces.

Look for winds to increase later today from the SW at up to 25 knots.

We have a high tide this morning at 10:39 a.m., and a low tide will be at 4:35 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 6.9 feet at 7 seconds in a WSW wind/swell combo. Some rideable surf in the water this morning but choppy, tropical storm like conditions out there this morning, with waves running north up the beach.  Clean faces if you feel like working extra hard this morning. We see lighter, offshore winds into Friday & Saturday with a chance for a little cleaner wave with a low pressure system pulling north. Keep your eye on it for any window of clean surf as we approach the Summer Solstice!

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will persist over the Southeast through at least the middle of next week.”

It’s 79* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 88* with partly cloudy skies and a chance of thunderstorms this evening.

Water temperature is around 82*.

Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
