Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, September 8th at 8:30 a.m.
Lots of new fall apparel and shoes are in at the shop, so come by and check it out. Come grab a new board for next week’s swell while you’re here!
Washout isn’t breaking still, so we’re coming to you from the pier this morning. The swell from Florence will likely push some sand around at The Washout next week, so we’ll see how it shakes down in the coming weeks.
Surf at The Pier is averaging waist high.
Winds are North at 5 knots and surf is clean and look slightly hard to get into at this morning’s high tide.
Look for easterly winds at 5-10 knots at the beach today which a chance of showers later, keeping the surf mostly clean.
We have a low tide at 1:12 p.m., and the next high tide will be at 7:35 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 5.8 seconds in a medium period south-easterly swell with N winds.
We continue to see rideable surf over the weekend as some tropical disturbances make their way west in front of Florence. We see ground swell building Sunday and into early next week with moderate south-east winds over long-period ground easterly swell from the storm. It looks as though Thursday, we’ll start to really receive large swells and bad weather from Florence, though it is still too early to tell her path and strength. There are many tropical low-pressure systems riding behind Florence, so we’ll update the forecast.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain in place north of the area into early next week while a tropical wave moves into the area from the east. Hurricane Florence could affect the U.S. East Coast toward the middle of next week.
It’s 77* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 86* with a chance of showers and thunderstorms today. Water temperature is 85*. Sunset is at 7:37 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:57 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
