Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, September 5 at 8:30 a.m.
Washout isn’t breaking still, so surf at the Pier is knee to thigh high. It should get a push as the tide comes in mid-morning.
Winds are NNE at 7 knots and the surf is clean.
Look for easterly winds today around 5-10 knots this afternoon and slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning.
We have a low tide at 10:09 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:36 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3 ft. at 5 seconds in a south-east swell mixed with a short-period ENE wind swell.
T.S. Gordon has made land fall west of Florida that is creating the slightest bit of swell off-shore for the next few days. We should see continued on-shore flow with high pressure to our north well off the Mid-Atlantic coast. We could see a tropical wave bring more wind-swell later in the work week. Tropical Storm Florence is in Central Atlantic and could add a ground-swell component to our surf late in the work week though it does look to be trending northward over the next few days. We could still see some NE residual swell as Florence moves across the Atlantic. Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain the dominant feature into Friday. A tropical wave could then impact the local area from the east into early next week.
It’s 78* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 87* with scattered showers today.
Water temperature is 85*.
Sunset is at 7:39 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:56 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
