semi glassy

Time of Report: 8:30
Wave Forecast: waist to stomach
Traffic: none for now
Parking: plenty for now
Dangers: none.

Good Morning. This is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for the Saturday, July 22 at 8:30 a.m.

We have a whole new batch of Stewart Surfboards and Gary Wilson boards that just landed in the shop. Also some new Jason Rowells short-boards are in the mix. Come get one before hurricane season starts to heat up.

Waves at The Washout are waist to stomach high. There is a rare bigger set. It looks it might pick up just a bit early afternoon as the tide pushes.

Winds are SW at 5 knots, and surf zone is semi clean.

Look for southerly winds at 15 to 20 knots later today, which will chop up the surf later today.

We’re coming off of a 7:36AM high tide, low tide is at 1:34PM and the next high tide will be at 8:06PM.

Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 9 seconds in long period south-east swell.

Surf should average waist to stomach high today with a possible larger set as the tide comes in late afternoon. We see small ESE trade wind swell mixing with long-period swell from tropical systems well to our south. Surf should pick up in choppy south-west wind swell Sunday into Monday.   Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will extend west into the southeast coast through this weekend as a surface trough remains inland. Unsettled weather will ensue toward the early to middle part of next week as a cold front approaches the area.”

It is 81* and sunny this morning.  Look for a muggy day with sun and some clouds with a high of 89.

Water temp is around 86*.

Sunset is at 8:28 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:22 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
