Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 21 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is knee high with thigh sets. The tide is kind of killing it early this morning. Waves are closing out at the morning’s low tide, but surf shows potential to be kind of fun when the tide fills in some late morning on a high-volume board.
Surf is nice and clean with a west/north-west wind at 5 to 8 knots.
Winds should stay off-shore through early afternoon. Expect winds at 10 knots from the south late afternoon, adding a bit of chop to the surf zone.
We have a low tide at 9:33 a.m., and a high tide at 4:13 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:18 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is calling 4.3 ft at 4 seconds in short period south wind swell with an east/south-east swell component 2 ft at 9 seconds.
Look for a few waves as the tide comes in late morning with overall clean conditions. Best for a high-volume board. Surf should stay clean through mid-afternoon before south winds add chop later today. South-west wind swell looks to fill in for Sunday with drifty choppy conditions, before we see a bigger south trade wind swell fill in late day Monday and increase through mid-week. There should finally be some size to the surf Tuesday and Wednesday, but winds trend south for the period at 10 to 15 knots, and surf should be bumpy and choppy. But at least there will likely be some punchy surf, so get some if you can.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “An upper disturbance will move through the area this evening. Low pressure will develop over the Southeast late Sunday and persist until Wednesday before dissipating. Atlantic high pressure will then prevail late next week.”
It is 75* and mostly sunny. Look for a high of 87* with a 20% chance of rain today.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8:25 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:24 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
