Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, June 9 at 8:15 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is ankle to knee high, weak and semi-clean.
Winds are south/south-west at 2 to 5 knots.
Look for south/south-east winds at 5 to 10 knots today adding some chop to the surf zone.
We have a low tide at 10:32 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:52 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2 ft. at 8 seconds in a mix of medium period easterly swell and south-easterly wind swell.
Surf is not expected to pick up today. It should start picking up just a bit through the day on Sunday in a drifty, choppy south-west wind swell. This same choppy south-west wind swell will carry us into the next work week with surf averaging thigh high. South-west wind swell looks to be building some into mid-week in weak, choppy, south-west wind swell in the thigh to waist high range. Some weather models indicate a tropical low forming in the Gulf of Mexico late in the work week, but it’s too far our to predict with any certainty if it will be a wind wave maker for our beaches.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough will linger over or near the area through next week.”
It is 75* and mostly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 83* with partly cloudy skies and an 80% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.
Water temperature is 82*
Sunset is at 8:26 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
