Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, June 10 at 8:20 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is ankle to knee high. There is actually a thigh high set, early. So it is longboardable, but it’s not great.
Winds are north west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean.
Look for south-west winds at 5 to 10 knots today adding some chop to the surf zone.
Low tide will be at 11:24 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:46 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.0 ft. at 5 seconds in a predominately south/south-west wind swell, with a slight swell from the east/south-east.
Surf is not expected to pick up much today, today. But we do expect some building, choppy south-west wind swell during the work week with surf averaging thigh high for Monday. South-west wind swell looks to build some into mid-week in weak, choppy, conditions in the thigh to waist high range. It certainly won’t be an epic swell event. Some weather models indicate a tropical low forming in the Gulf of Mexico late in the work week, but it’s too far our to predict with any certainty if it will be a wind wave maker for our beaches.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak backdoor cold front will approach the area from the north Monday into Tuesday before lifting back north as a warm front by mid-week.”
It is 75* and mostly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 85* with partly cloudy skies and an 20% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.
Water temperature is 82*
Sunset is at 8:27 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
