Remember, pipes are out at the pier as they finish up re-nourishment, so the area is blocked off.
Waves at the Washout this morning are running waist-to chest with occ. Head high sets.
Winds are east/south-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is still choppy, chunky and drifty. The wind was strong on-shore until about 7 a.m. this morning.
Look for south-west winds at 10 to 15 knots later this morning, going west late in the day. The surf should clean up some as the day wears on.
We have a king tide this morning, and surf is breaking up into the rocks at the Washout. Low tide will be at 2:31 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:32 p.m
The Edisto buoy is reading 11.5 ft. at 7.7 seconds in a medium-period east/south-east wind swell.
Look for waist to chest high (plus) surf all day today, with south-west winds keeping some bump and chop in the surf zone. Winds go westerly late day, and clean up waist to chest high swell as the size drops some this afternoon. But, there should be some fun surf all day. Surf cleans up and drops some for Sunday, but look for cleaner rideable surf in the waist to stomach high range. Rideable surf continues for Monday morning’s high tide, before surf goes small for most of the work week. So, today is a great day to get some surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A low pressure system will move northeast of the area today. Weak high pressure is expected to build across the region tonight and persist into Sunday. A cold front will move through on Monday followed by high pressure through late next week.”
It’s partly cloudy and 66* this morning. Look for a high of 70* today.
Water temperature has dropped to 62*.
Sunrise was at 6:58 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:14 p.m.
