Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, November 12 at 8:30 a.m.
With the time change, we move on to our winter hours, which are from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Waves at the Washout are running thigh to waist high. Looks like there will be an occasional bigger set. There’s a little size out there this cold morning. Surf should pick up as the tide comes in.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots, but should abate some as the day wears on. Surf is side-shore and drifty, with some current running down the beach but there are some clean faces.
We see NE winds at 10 to 15 knots today.
We have a low tide this morning as of report time. High tide is at 2:58 p.m., and another low tide is at 9:13 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 7.5 ft. at 7 seconds in short period east/north-east wind swell, with a fairly high angle. Most of the swell is heading past our beachs.
North-east wind swell continues with side-shore drifty conditions and more moderate north-winds today. Surf is waist high (plus) for today in drifty, high angled north-east wind swell. Swell should rotate slightly more easterly/south-easterly to start the new work week with waves averaging thigh-to-waist high and north-winds keeping surf fairly clean.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will slowly weaken today. A weak cold front is expected to move through the area late tonight into early Monday. High pressure will then prevail through late in the week, followed by a cold front next weekend.”
It’s 54* and cloudy at the beach this morning. Look for cool weather and clouds and sun at the beach today, with a high of only 68* and mostly cloudy skies.
Water temperature is around 67*, but could drop to the mid-60s by the end of the weekend. You’ll need a 3/2 full-suit.
Sunset is at 5:21 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:45 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
