Good Morning. This is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are averaging thigh to stomach high.  The surf is clean but a little mushy coming off of a high tide.
Winds are currently South at 5 knots and are expected to go SE today at 10 to 15 kts.
As wind switches this afternoon, the surf will become choppy, however with swell in the water, waves should be fun as the tide backs out this morning.
Low tide will be at 1:11 pm followed by high tide will be at 7:39 pm.
Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 5 seconds in short period S/SE wind swell.
We’ll high pressure move into the area early this week before a cold front approaches Thursday. Of the 3 tropical disturbances in the Atlantic, one looks like it could send us some waves as it moves closer.  Stay tuned!
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak stationary front will gradually dissipate north of the waters early this week. Atlantic high pressure will expand across the area Tuesday and Wednesday. A strong cold front is expected to pass over the region on Thursday.”  It is 84* with partly cloudy skies this morning. Expect partly cloudy skies today and a high of 90* with a 20% chance of rain. There is a heat advisory in effect.  Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:45 a.m.
