Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, January 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout this morning are Waist-Chest. Semi choppy conditions that are starting to improve.
Winds are currently moderate/strong from the WSW at 15+ knots and surf-zone is still trying to clean up as the winds are beginning to rotate more offshore.
Look for strong/gusty west winds today averaging 15-20kts.
We have a high tide at 6:57 A.M and low tide is at 1:12 P.M The Edisto buoy is reading 11.5ft at 8 seconds in a medium period S wind-swell.
Waves are here this morning and running waist to chest high on average. Winds and current are still an issue early but look for this to improve as the morning progresses. The front is just about to pass and winds should pick up harder out of the west. This hard offshore wind should knock the surf down quick so get out there today if you can. Work week is looking slow to start with another potential shot of south wind-swell mid-late week we will keep you posted.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move offshore this morning, followed by cold high pressure. Another cold front will move through Wednesday night and Thursday, then high pressure will build back over the area. A storm system could affect the area late next weekend.
It’s 55* and cloudy at the beach this morning. Look for a high of 67* with clouds today.
Water temperature is around 55*.
Sunrise is around 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:41 p.m.
