Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, July 22 at 8:30 p.m.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high and clean. There is a waist high set.
Surf this morning is semi-clean, with west/south-west winds at 7 to 10 knots and some south-west cross up in the waves. There is a slight current running up the beach.
We see south-west winds at 10 this afternoon, going south at 10 to 15 late day, and surf should be semi-choppy today.
Low tide is at 10:25 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:04 p.m. The next low tide at is at 11:12 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft at 6 seconds in short period south-west wind swell.
We see surf build a bit as the tide comes in today, averaging thigh high with perhaps a waist set this afternoon in semi-choppy conditions and south-west winds at 10 to 15. Look for bigger south trade wind swell to fill in a bit as the tide comes in Monday afternoon. South swell will be on the increase through mid-week as low pressure develops over the Southeastern United States. There should finally be some size to the surf Tuesday and Wednesday, but winds trend south for the period at 10 to 15 knots, and surf should be bumpy and choppy. But at least there will likely be some punchy surf, so get some if you can.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will develop over the southeast United States and persist through Wednesday before dissipating. Atlantic high pressure is expected to build across the region by late week.”
It’s 79* with sun and passing clouds this morning. Look for a high of 90* with a 40% chance of rain late afternoon.
Water temperature is 84*.
Sunset is at 8:24 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:26 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
