Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, July 7th at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Pier and the Washout are ankle-to-knee. Maybe a rare thigh high set in a weak south-west wind swell.
Winds are west/south-west at 10 knots, and surf is fairly clean.
Look for winds from the S over the course of the day up to 15 to 20 knots this afternoon, with choppy conditions later.
We have a high tide at 12:40 p.m., and a low tide will be at 6:35 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 ft at 5 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell.
We should have a slight uptick in choppy south-west wind swell to start the work week. Stronger south winds this afternoon should begin to push up a wind swell Monday and Tuesday when wind and swell rotates south-west. Not great surf, but maybe some bigger choppy surf into the start of the work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will linger across the region through tonight. A weak front will stall across the area Tuesday before gradually dissipating. Atlantic high pressure will rebuild late week into the weekend.”
It’s 81* with clouds this morning. Expect rain and thunderstorms on-and-off today, with a high of 88*.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
