Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, November 11 at 8:30 a.m.
We look for some surf this week, so come on by and get a wetsuit if you don’t have one. We have a large selection of neoprene.
Waves at the pier this morning are running in the thigh to waist high range with a stomach high set.
Winds are north at 15 to 20 knots and surf is side-shore but clean, with a strong drift running north-to-south, down the beach.
We expect winds from the north-east today at 10 to 15 knots, adding moderate chop to the surf zone, with continued drifty conditions.
High tide is coming up at 10:08 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:23 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 6.2 at 6 seconds in north-east wind swell, with a high angle on it. We see continued, high-angled north/north-east wind swell getting a bit choppy this afternoon with north-east winds continuing all day. This high-angled north/north-east wind swell should begin to rotate easterly through the day on Monday, before winds come on-shore Tuesday and push up sizable south wind-swell in the head-high range. Winds come strong north again for Wednesday as temperatures drop after a cold front passage. For the latter half of the work week, there is a tropical wave several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles that has a 40 percent chance of development into a tropical system within five days, this could add a longer-period ground swell component to the surf. The swell pushing against strong, cold north winds after a cold front passage on Wednesday. Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Cool and dry high pressure will prevail today. A few storm systems will then affect the area through at least mid-week. Cool and dry high pressure will then return by this weekend.”
It’s 45* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for temps around 60* today with sun and clouds mixed.
Water temperature is 68*.
Sunset is at 5:22 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:43 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
