Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, November 11 at 8:30 a.m.
We look for some surf this week, so come on by and get a wetsuit and booties if you don’t have any. We have a large selection of neoprene.
Waves at the pier this morning are running in the thigh to waist high range with a stomach high set. It is semi-clean with a side shore wind and a strong drift from north-to-south, down the beach.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 knots.
We expect winds from the north-east today at 10 knots, Going east late day. This should add a moderate chop to the surf zone, with continued drifty conditions and a rotating swell angle.
High tide is coming up at 10:52 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:07 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.6 ft. at 6 seconds in a combination of east/north-east wind swell and south-east swell 2.3 ft. at 9 seconds.
High-angled north/north-east wind swell should begin to rotate easterly through the day today with building swell this afternoon, before winds come on-shore Tuesday and push up sizable south wind-swell in the head-high range. Keep an eye on the flags for a clean-up Tuesday afternoon. Winds come strong north-east again for Wednesday as temperatures drop after a cold front passage. For the latter half of the work week, there is a tropical wave several hundred miles east of the Bahamas that now has a 70 percent chance of development into a tropical system within five days, this could add a longer-period ground swell component to the surf later this week. The swell will be pushing against strong, cold north winds after a cold front passage on Wednesday, so we’ll see how that shakes down.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A series of storm systems will impact the area through mid-week with cool and dry high pressure returning by this weekend. A mainly dry cold front could move through early next week.”
It’s 56* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for temps around 67* today with rain starting later today.
Water temperature is 66*.
Sunset is at 5:22 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:43 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
