Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 21 at 8:30 a.m.
We have lots of neoprene jackets and spring-suits for men, women, and kids in the shop, and it’s cooling off, so you’ll need one to surf this week. Come check them out.
Waves at the pier this morning are averaging ankle to knee high with strong offshore winds.
Winds are north/north-west at 15 to 20 knots, and surf zone is clean and textured.
Look for north winds at 15 to 20 today, fading 10 to 15 knots late this afternoon.
Tide is going out, and low tide is at 12:04 p.m., and high tide will be at 6:27 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 6.9 ft. at 7 seconds in a north-west wind swell blowing away from the beach.
Surf looks small today, and to start the work week, before we see an increase in choppy, high angled north-east wind swell starting Thursday. A low passes off-shore of our marine area Saturday, pushing up some chunky wind swell into next weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will build north of the region through tonight, then prevail into the mid week. A low pressure system will likely approach the Southeast U.S. this weekend, before high pressure returns early next week.”
It’s a cool 60 and sunny this morning. Look for a beautiful fall day with a high of 64* and lots of sun.
Water temperature is now 78* after the cooler weather we had over the weekend. It should drop into the mid-70s this week.
Sunset is at 6:39 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:28 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
