Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, August 15 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee to thigh high.
Winds are south at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is semi-choppy. Probably best for the long-board this morning.
Look for winds to remain from the south today at 10 knots, with variable winds possible during thunderstorms.
We have a high tide early this morning, and low tide will be at 2:25 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:56 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft at 6 seconds in a combination of medium period south swell, and south-east wind swell.
Surf looks small today, in the knee to thigh high range in a weak south wind swell. We should see choppy south-west wind swell build for Friday and Saturday as a front lingers in our area, creating unsettled weather and choppy south-west wind waves averaging thigh to waist high. This wind swell drops off Sunday and into the beginning of the work week. As of right now, there is not anything really firing up in the tropics.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A front will linger over the area through Saturday before
Atlantic high pressure rebuilds.”
It’s 81* with sun behind clouds this morning. Look for a high of 88* and thunderstorms likely today, especially this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:10 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
