Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, August 30 at 8:30 a.m.
We’ll be having a Labor Day Sale tomorrow through Monday with 25% off apparel, sunglasses, footwear and more. We’ll also have $75 off any Tim Jump Secula surfboard in the shop. Come shop!
Keep in mind bulldozers and beach re-nourishment area taking place at the Washout.
Surf at the Pier this morning is about knee high. Occasionally there is a thigh high set, but you might have to work for it.
Winds are west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf is clean. If you’re real patient you might be able to get into something on a log.
Look for light, southerly winds today at about 5 to 10 knots. Surf zone should remain clean until mid-afternoon, when it gets a light chop.
High tide will be at 10:52 a.m. We have a low tide will be at 5:05 p.m. The next high tide at 11:13 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2 ft. at 8 seconds in medium period south/south-east swell.
Not much surf on the horizon for this week as high pressure will control our weather. We could see some small south-east trade wind swell late in the weekend and over Labor Day as high pressure over the Atlantic moves more north. This should push up some small trade-wind swell late Sunday into early next week as the on-shore flow is enhanced by a tropical wave now sitting in the middle of the Atlantic to our south-east. Winds will be east/north-east for the period, so the swell should be somewhat choppy. The tropics are starting to stir, with the Euro model calling for a spin in the Gulf of Mexico during the latter part of next week. There is also a fairly strong tropical wave coming off of the African coast. Stay tuned and fingers crossed.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will remain the dominant feature through the upcoming weekend.”
It’s 78* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 89* and sunshine. With a 30% chance of a storm.
Water temperature is 84*.
Sunset is at 7:51 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:48 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
