Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, February 20 at 8:30 a.m.
New Spring 2019 Beater Boards and Odysea Boards have arrived. Come see what’s new from Catch Surf. We also received a batch of new boards from Jason Rowells. Come check it out.
Waves at the Washout this morning are waist to chest high. Maybe slightly bigger.
Winds are north-east at 15 knots, and surf is side-shore and semi-clean with a bit of drift in the surf zone. Tide is very high, so surf is soft, but it looks fun, and we should have waves all day.
Look for lighter north-west winds this afternoon, and cleaner surf later today.
We are coming off a very high tide cycle this morning, low tide will be at 2:26 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:41 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 8.9 ft. at 8.3 seconds in a predominantly east/south-east wind swell. Plenty of swell at the buoy, means waves all day.
We have good south-east swell in the water today, with off-shore winds in the forecast this afternoon on an incoming tide. It should be a good day of surf. With a frontal boundary lingering in our marine area, we should see continued south swell, but look for moderate south/south-west winds on Thursday adding some chop to the surf. Swell continues Friday, and will diminish but still be rideable over the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A nearly stationary front will meander near the area through Saturday morning. A cold front will sweep through from the west late Sunday, followed by high pressure on Monday. A low pressure system could affect the area next Tuesday.”
It’s 55* and cloudy with rain this morning. Look for a high of 64* and clouds with showers at the beach today.
Water temperature is around 57*.
Sunrise is around 6:57 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:08 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
