Time of Report: 8:30 AM
Wave Forecast: waist to stomach
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: none

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 23 at 8:30 a.m.

We are preparing for the Icebox Open, to be held one weekend in February. We will wait for a weekend with good waves and have around $2000 in cash and prizes across the divisions. More details to come.

Surf at the Washout this morning is waist to stomach with strong onshore winds.

Surf zone is choppy and bumpy.

Winds are SW at 15-25 knots.  We see WSW winds at 15-20 knots this afternoon, and surf should stay choppy.

High tide will be at 11:45 am followed by low tide at 6:08 p.m.

Edisto buoy is reading 3.9 ft. at 6 seconds in steep angled period SSW wind swell.

Surf has size today but in stormy conditions for now. Waves at the washout are waist to stomach high in choppy, onshore conditions. High pressure moves in for the rest of the work week, leaving us with small surf conditions. We expect a Bermuda high type of system in the Western Atlantic for the weekend with decent off-shore fetch pointed at our beaches. This should keep some decent surf in the forecast for the weekend, so that might be our best bet for some surf this week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today as a weak coastal trough moves inland. A cold front will move through the region Tuesday morning, followed by high pressure through the end of the work week. Another cold front will likely impact the area early next week.”

It is 60* this morning with rain and fog. We see clouds today with a 20% chance of rain and a high of around 68*.

Water temperature is 46*.

Sunset is at 5:42 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:19 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
