Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 24 at 8:30 a.m.
We are preparing for the Icebox Open, to be held one weekend in February. We will wait for a weekend with good waves and have around $2000 in cash and prizes across the divisions. More details to come
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee to thigh with clean conditions.
Winds are light North at 5-10 knots. We see winds turn more southerly later in the day at 5-10 knots this afternoon, and surf should stay clean and glassy.
High tide will be at 12:40 am followed by low tide at 7:03 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 1.3 ft. at 6 seconds in very steep angled period SSW wind swell.
Surf gone small for today. Waves at the washout are knee to thigh high in clean conditions. High pressure moves in for the rest of the work week, leaving us with small surf conditions. We expect a Bermuda high type of system in the Western Atlantic for the weekend with decent off-shore fetch pointed at our beaches. This should keep some decent surf in the forecast for the weekend, so that might be our best bet for some surf this week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today as a weak coastal trough moves inland. A cold front will move through the region Tuesday morning, followed by high pressure through the end of the work week. Another cold front will likely impact the area early next week.”
It is 47* this morning with a bunch of sun. We see sun all day with a high of around 58*
Water temperature is 46*.
Sunset is at 5:42 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:19 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
