Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 8:30 a.m.

Carolina Surf Film Festival is set for this weekend at the Brickhouse Kitchen here in Charleston. Go to carolinasurffilmfestival.com for tickets and more information

Colder air temps today and waves at the washout are knee high with a thigh high set. Waves are up in the rocks after this morning’s high tide.

Winds are NNE at 20-25 knots, and surf zone is semi-choppy. Look for semi-choppy surf all day as winds will eventually lighten to 15 knots later.

We have a low tide at 12:46 and a high tide will be at 7:07 p.m.

Edisto buoy is reading 10.2 ft. at 8.3 seconds in steep NE wind swell.

If you want to surf today, get on it for the early-afternoon tide push. Look for NNE winds late day at 15 knots, but fairly clean conditions all day. We see very high angled north-east wind swell today after a strong cold front passage, with drifty conditions at the beach for today and late into the work week and surf averaging waist to stomach high. Invest 92 L is a low forming 175 miles north-northeast of the Turks and Caicos Islands, and should add a ground swell component to the north-east wind swell this week. Surf and the north-east winds fade off some Friday into Saturday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A strong cold front will move through this evening, followed by dry high pressure through the upcoming weekend.”

If it 71* with fog in the area this morning. Look for a high of 81* with rain and thunderstorms as this cold front moves through this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 79* but will probably drop a little with this NE wind.

Sunset is at 6:46 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:23 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
