Weak wind-chop.

Time of Report: 8:15 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Ankle to knee.
Traffic: None.
Parking: Plenty, today.
Dangers: Irma.

Good Morning. This is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 8:15 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are ankle to knee high with a thigh high set and have some cross up from a south-west wind at 10.
Look for south winds at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, adding chop to the surf zone later in the day.
Low tide will be at 1:14 p.m. and the next high tide will be at 8:14 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 2 ft. at 4 seconds in short period south-west wind swell. No ground-swell showing this morning.
All eyes are on Hurricane Irma later this week as it could affect our area. Look for small, inconsistent ESE ground swell to start building late overnight from Hurricane Irma. This inconsistent ground-swell builds some Wednesday, filling in Thursday. Friday and Saturday are the days to expect the most swell with moderate north to north-east winds. The wind will likely become much stronger into Sunday with long period swell being replaced by big wind-swell, but stay tuned as Irma continues to develop and we get a better read on her track over the next few days. Believe it or not, there is another tropical low behind Irma, and this should send more swell our way next week. Hurricane season is in full effect right now.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move offshore Wednesday night. High pressure will then prevail through late week. Powerful Hurricane Irma will likely be near Florida and the Bahamas this weekend. Refer to the latest advisory on Irma issued by the National Hurricane Center.”
It is 78* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 85* with sun and clouds. There is a 20% chance of a shower.
Water temperature is around 82*.
Sunset is at 7:39 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:56 a.m.
