Labor Day, 2017
Clean early, bump later.
Good Morning. This is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Labor Day, Sept. 4 at 8:15 a.m.
Today is the last day of our Labor Day Weekend sale. We’ll have 30% off footwear and apparel plus $100 off any NEW board in the shop. Come on by.
Waves at The Washout are flat with an knee high set and clean/weak with wind west at 5 knots.
Look for south winds at 10 knots this afternoon, adding chop to the surf zone later in the day.
Low tide will be at 12:59 p.m. and the next high tide will be at 7:33 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 ft. at 8 seconds in medium period easterly swell.
Look for small, long-period ESE ground swell to start moving in on late day/overnight on Tuesday from Hurricane Irma. This builds some Wednesday, filling in Thursday. Friday and Saturday are the days to expect the most swell with moderate north winds. The wind will likely become much stronger into Sunday with swell beginning to fade, but stay tuned as Irma continues to develop and we get a better read on her track over the next few days.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will dissipate south of the area today. A cold front is expected to move through late Wednesday or early Thursday, followed by high pressure late in the week. Powerful Hurricane Irma will likely be near the Bahamas next weekend. Refer to the latest advisory on Irma issued by the National Hurricane Center.”
It is 76* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 89* with sun and clouds.
Water temperature is around 81*
Sunset is at 7:39 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:56 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
