Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 27 at 8:30 a.m.
We want to thank everyone who participated and helped organize our surf contest. And thanks to our sponsors: Carolina Surf Brand, Kona Brewing, Blu, Pier 101, Gold’s Gym, and Fate Sailing Charters. We couldn’t do it without you.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high.
Winds are north-north east at 15 to 18 knots. Surf is side-shore, drifty and choppy and weak.
We expect north-east winds at 15 to 20 today, and choppy surf building some this afternoon.
Low tide is at 11:38 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:47 pm.
Edisto buoy is reading 7.5 ft. at 5.5 seconds in short-period east wind swell. Most of this swell is passing by our beaches.
After a cold front passage overnight, we see high angle north-east wind swell picking today into the thigh-to-waist high range early afternoon, with choppy drifty conditions at the beach. Winds abate some for Wednesday with leftover east swell in the water averaging thigh to waist high with cleaner conditions. Choppy drifty south-west wind swell fills in to stomach/chest high for Thursday, before waves go small Friday and Saturday. It looks like we might get an extra-long period east/north-east ground swell late in the weekend into early next week as a low bombs out off of the mid-Atlantic coast so keep an eye on that potential ground-swell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will build from the north today. A warm front will lift north through the region Wednesday followed by a cold front Thursday. High pressure will then prevail into the weekend.”
It is 52* with sun today. Look for a high of 64* and lots of sun.
Water temperature is up to 64*.
Sunset is at 6:15 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:48 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
