Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for
Wednesday, February 28 at 8:30 a.m.
We want to thank everyone who participated and helped organize our surf contest. And thanks to our sponsors: Carolina Surf Brand, Kona Brewing, Blu, Pier 101, Gold’s Gym, and Fate Sailing Charters. We couldn’t do it without you.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high with a rare waist high set.
Winds are north-north east at 5 to 7 knots. Surf is semi glassy and looks ok for a fish or longboard.
We expect SE/SSE at 15 to 20 today, making the surf choppy.
Low tide is at 12:34 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:51 pm.
Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 8 seconds in short-period east wind swell. Most of this swell is passing by our beaches.
After a cold front passage last night, we see high angle north-east wind swell with dwindling swell at the beach. Winds are calm today with leftover east swell in the water averaging thigh to waist high with cleaner conditions this morning but forecasted S winds will chop it up this afternoon. Choppy drifty south-west wind swell fills in to stomach/chest high for Thursday, before waves go small Friday and Saturday. It looks like we might get an extra-long period east/north-east ground swell late in the weekend into early next week as a low bombs out off of the mid-Atlantic coast so keep an eye on that potential ground-swell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will build from the north today. A warm front will lift north through the region Wednesday followed by a cold front Thursday. High pressure will then prevail into the weekend.”
It is 57* with clouds today. Look for a high of 68* and cloudy with a 60% chance of rain.
Water temperature is up to 64*.
Sunset is at 6:15 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:48 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
