Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 16 at 8:30 a.m.
We are preparing for the Icebox Open, to be held one weekend in February. We will wait for a weekend with good waves and have around $2000 in cash and prizes for the winner. More details to come!
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee to thigh high with rare waist high sets.
Surf is semi-choppy.
Winds are north at 5 to 10 knots, and should trend light from the north today. Surf should clean up some later today.
Tide is going out, and low tide will be at 1:30 p.m. High tide will be at 7:25 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 4.9 ft. at 5 secs in a combination of east/north-east wind swell and south-easterly ground swell at 4.3 ft. at 10 seconds. There is some swell at the buoy, so we could see some surf as the tide comes in this afternoon.
We have some mixed easterly swell off-shore today, and there should be a little longboard wave at the right tides today, with weather a bit warmer. This swell trend continues for Wednesday as a cold front passes, and winds become stronger off-shore, pushing down the surf some. It should be rideable on the right equipment for the next few days, and we expect surf to get smaller Friday into the weekend.
Water temp is hovering around 45*.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will linger over the region today. A cold front will sweep across the area Wednesday morning, followed by dry high pressure into late week. Warmer conditions arrive this weekend before another cold front pushes through Monday. Dry high pressure will then return on Tuesday.”
It is a chilly 35 this morning. It is sunny. We see sun today and a high of around 53*.
Water temperature is hovering around 45*.
Sunset is at 5:37 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:21 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
