Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 17 at 8:30 a.m.
We are preparing for the Icebox Open, to be held one weekend in February. We will wait for a weekend with good waves and have around $2000 in cash and prizes for the winner. More details to come!
The Taste of Folly Festival is taking place on Saturday, come hang with us on the deck at the shop and check out the festivities.
Surf at the Washout this morning is waist to stomach high with chest high sets. It does look pretty fun this morning.
Surf is very clean.
Winds are north/north-west at 5 to 8 knots. We see winds trend north-west at 10 to 15 knots today, and surf zone should stay fairly clean.
We just had a high tide at 8 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:06 p.m. High tide will be at 8:03 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 9 seconds in easterly wind swell.
We have easterly ground swell off-shore today, and we see waves average waist high, dropping out some at low tide, and moving into the stomach high range on the incoming tide this afternoon if the wind does not come too hard off-shore later today. We see strong north-west winds for Thursday beat down the surf, and surf looks small Friday and into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “An arctic cold front will push offshore today. Cold, dry high pressure will prevail across the region Thursday before moderating temperatures occur this weekend into early next week. A cold front will push through the area Monday, followed by dry high pressure into the middle of next week.”
It is a chilly 38 this morning. It is sunny. We see sun today and a high of around 51*.
Water temperature is up to 46*.
Sunset is at 5:37 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:21 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
