Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 2nd at 8:30 a.m.
Most of the store marked down 20%-40%!
Surf at the Washout this morning is waist high with a frequent stomach high set. Waves are sideshore and blown out.
Winds are NNE at 20 to 25 knots, and this should continue all day.
Low tide will be at 2:00 pm followed by high tide at 8:05 pm.
Edisto buoy is reading 8.5 ft. at 5.5 seconds in high angled ENE wind swell. Most of the swell is pushing past the beach.
We see surf averaging stomach high plus today and tomorrow then tapering off towards the end of the week. Extreme winds becoming gail force on Thursday will certainly rough up the surf and sideshore conditions will continue, making the surf unfavorable.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will build in from the west and northwest and continue through this evening. A low pressure trough will form over the far southern waters late tonight, with a low pressure system developing off of the southeast coast on Wednesday.
It is 23* and sunny this morning. The wind chill is in the teens. Look for sun today and a high of 38*
Water temperature is down to 52*. That’s darn cold!
Sunset is at 5:25 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:22 a.m.
