Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 18 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are knee high with a thigh set. Maybe a rare bigger set on the high tide this morning. It’s weak. Bring the long-board.
Winds are moderate out of the south this morning, and surf is bumpy.
Look for winds to increase later out of the south-east 10-15 mph with choppier surf later today.
We have a hightide this morning at 9:12 a.m., and a low tide at 3:12 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:47 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 5 seconds in a south-east wind swell.
Small long-board waves in the water this morning with a semi-choppy south wind swell in the water. We do expect building but choppy south-west wind waves to increase over the next several days as a trough of low pressure builds inland, creating strong south-west winds and on/side-shore flow building Wednesday, and getting choppier Thursday. This wind swell drops off but cleans up some for Friday. Swell fades out this weekend, so go surf mid-to-late week if you can.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will give way to a low pressure trough today. A surface trough of low pressure is expected to develop inland by mid week, then persist over the Southeast through late week and likely into the weekend.
It’s 80* and mostly sunny this morning and a high of 82* a perfect beach day here at Folly. There’s a 20% chance of a thunderstorm.
Water temperature is around 82*.
Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
