Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, May 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is running waist to stomach high, with a rib high set. Swell is closing out at the morning’s low tide and doesn’t look great early. Surf should get better form as the tide comes in late morning as there are plenty of swell lines in the water.
Winds are south at 5 to 10, and surf is bumpy and semi-choppy.
We expect south winds at 10 knots all day, and surf should remain semi-choppy.
Low tide will be at 8:40 a.m., and high tide will be at 3:06 p.m. The next low tide at 9:01 pm.
The Edisto buoy reading 4.6 ft. at 9 seconds in medium period south-easterly swell.
There is plenty of swell at the buoy from the south-east this morning, and we should continue to have rideable waves in the water today with semi-choppy conditions. We have moderate on-shore flow through mid-week, and waves should remain small but rideable Wednesday. Surf should fall off some Thursday into Friday. Before a tropical low pressure system moves into the eastern GOMEX late in the Memorial Day Weekend, bringing more choppy south wind swell late Saturday into early next week. There is some decent surf of varying quality in the forecast through mid-week and for the weekend or so. Get in the water before the doldrums of summer set in.
