Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, August 3rd at 8:30 a.m.
The Eastern Surfing Association’s Governor’s Cup of Surfing takes place this weekend. Make sure to check out all the action at the Contest Shack.
Surf at The Washout this morning is waist to stomach high. There is a chest high set, but those are mostly closing out this morning.
Winds are East at 10-15 knots and surf is pretty jumbled this morning with clean faces.
Look for NE winds over the course of the day up to 15 knots.
We have a high tide at 10:27 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:26 p.m. The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 6 seconds in a SE swell/NE wind combo. We see some slightly disorganized but sizeable surf today and likely over the next day or so as a front remains over our area. It’ll be a bit windy, but some surf to ride, nonetheless. Invest 96L is predicted to develop into a tropical depression affecting the Caribbean this week and is heading in our general direction. The tropics are starting to stir.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Weak low pressure will pass offshore today. A stationary front will remain across the region through early next week. Then, a weak surface trough will prevail inland with high pressure in the Atlantic.”
It’s 76* with rain and clouds this morning. Look for a high of 83* today with rain.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:32 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
