Washout June 1st

clean

Time of Report: 8:00 a.m.
Wave Forecast: knee high
Traffic: crowded
Parking: crowded

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, June 1st at 8:00 a.m.

The Folly Beach Wahine Classic is today and Sunday at the contest shack.

Waves at the Washout this morning are running about knee high and glassy.  Weak conditions, but some fun on the right board.  Getting crowded down there with the contest being held today.

Winds are light out of the NNW and there’s a light breeze at the beach this morning.  Look for SW winds later today up to 15 knots.

Low tide is at 12:54 p.m., and high tide will be at 7:19 p.m.  The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 6 seconds in a short period SSW swell with NNW winds. Small clean-for-now waves out there this morning and likely into low tide this afternoon.  As the wind increases later today, look for choppier conditions and weaker surf. We see a couple of other cold fronts approach the coast tomorrow night and mid week, maybe bringing along some windows of cleaner surf. These will of course be mixed with periods of high pressure. For now, get on it while you can.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will persist over the weekend until another cold front pushes through early next week. High pressure will build north of the region through the mid week. The high will then shift well offshore late week with increasing chances for unsettled weather.

It’s a beautiful morning. It’s 76* and sunny.  Look for a high of 89* and sun throughout the day.

Water temperature is around 82*.

Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:22 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
