Semi-clean
Good Morning. This is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 23 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are averaging waist to stomach high. There is an occasional bigger set. Surf is a bit soft at the morning’s high tide.
Surf is semi-clean and looks super fun!
Winds are currently west at 5-10 knots and are expected to rotate south-west at 10 knots this afternoon.
Surf should be semi-choppy as the tide comes in late afternoon.
High tide is at 9:55 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:46 pm.
Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 ft. at 10 seconds in long period ESE swell.
Surf should build again late afternoon as the tide comes in in semi-choppy conditions. We have a disorganized tropical disturbance near the Bahamas This system looks to push some small but fun surf into our beaches this afternoon and into Thursday. Low pressure could form offshore Friday and we see strong north-east winds late this week, pushing in high angled north-easterly wind swell for Friday and into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will extend across the area through Wednesday with a weak low developing inland. A cold front is expected to pass over the region on Thursday. A wave of low pressure could form along the front offshore Friday, as high pressure builds from the north next weekend. It is 80* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 88* and a 40% chance of a thunderstorm. Water temperature is 87*.
Sunset is at 7:55 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:48 a.m.
