Wed., Sept. 13
Chatter, semi-chop.
Good Morning. This is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 8:15 a.m.
Parking is restricted at The Washout this morning. Crews are cleaning up the roadway from debris from the recent storm.
Surf at the Washout this morning is waist to stomach high. There is a rib-high set. It looks to build as the tide comes in this morning. Surf is semi-choppy and some sets are closing out at the lower tide.
We just had a low tide, high tide will be at 2:21 p.m. The next low tide is at 8:46 p.m.
Winds are east/north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and we see moderate south winds today at 5 to 10 knots. Surf should be bumpy but rideable all day, with improving form as the winds rotate south.
Edisto Buoy is reading 4.9 ft. at 9 seconds in medium period south-east swell. Plenty of swell at the buoy this morning, and we should have some waves all day.
We still have some ground swell in the water, compliments of Hurricane Jose, with will spin in our swell window through late week. Jose gets continues in our swell window later this week and begins to send in another strong ground swell. Jose gets pushed to our north and out of our swell window early next week, but another hurricane swell is in the forecast late week into the weekend. We have waves in the forecast all week of some description, so go surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Irma will gradually dissipate and move into the Ohio Valley through Thursday. Weak high pressure will build into the area through early next week as Hurricane Jose spins in the Atlantic between the Bahamas and Bermuda.”
It’s 70* with sun this morning. Look for sun today mixed with some passing clouds and a high of 84*.
Water temperature is around 76*.
Sunset is at 7:28 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:01 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
