Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, April 10 at 8:30 a.m.
New The new Stewart Ripster long-boards are in the shop, so come check them out. We also have spring-suits and jackets, so get out of the full-suit and start rippppping.
Surf at the Washout (where we first checked) is knee to thigh high with a waist set. Surf at the pier (where we took pictures) is knee to thigh high and looks fun for the log session.
Winds are very light and variable this morning, and surf is clean.
We expect increasing north-east winds today at 15 to 20 this afternoon, and we’ll have choppy, drifty conditions by late afternoon.
Tide is coming in, and high tide will be at noon. Low tide will be at 6:09 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 7 seconds in a medium-period, south-east swell.
Surf looks fairly small on the incoming tide, with clean conditions until mid-to-late morning. We see increasingly strong north-east winds this afternoon as high pressure sets up, and low pressure moves off of our coast today. These winds rotate easterly tomorrow and we see choppy, drifty easterly wind swell for Thursday. Friday calls for increasing south wind swell surf in the chest high range with on-shore winds but fun conditions and less drift. This south swell should continue into Saturday with cleaner conditions. South swell fades Sunday but still plenty rideable on the high volume stick. Low pressure affects our marine area again on Monday of next week, so there is plenty of south wind swell in the forecast Friday thought Monday, with easterly wind chop for tomorrow, so it’s a really good time to go surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will move offshore today. High pressure will then prevail through Thursday night. A cold front will approach the region Friday, then will stall north of the area and lift north as a warm front this weekend. A stronger cold front is expected to advance through the region Sunday night and Monday followed by high pressure through the middle of next week.”
It’s 65* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 76* today with sun behind clouds and a slight chance of showers.
Water temperature is around 63*. Sunrise is around 6:57 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:44 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
