Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, April 9 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. Maybe slightly bigger.
Winds are very light from the south-west at 5 knots, and surf is bumpy, with clean faces. Look for south-west winds at 10 to 15 this afternoon, adding some bump to building south-wind swell.
High tide is this morning at 11:14 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:19 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.9 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium period south/south-east wind swell. There is some south-swell at the buoy, and there should be some surf today.
We see building south wind-swell today with choppy conditions this afternoon. Looking ahead into the work week, we see a low depart off our coast tonight, and this should result in a slight increase in choppy south swell today. Look for the surf to drop off late tomorrow afternoon, before we see a cold front pass through late Thursday into Friday, bringing in another quick shot of south wind-swell. So, we have some rideable surf in the forecast this week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A storm system will affect the area into tonight before shifting further offshore Wednesday. High pressure will then prevail until a cold front pushes into the region Friday. The front will stall over or just north of the area then will lift north as a warm front by Sunday. A cold front will advance through the region Sunday night and Monday, followed by high pressure through the middle of next week.”
It’s 68* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 76* today with thunderstorms possible.
Water temperature is around 63*.
Sunrise is around 6:57 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:44 p.m.
