Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 18 at 8:15 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is around knee to thigh high.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is side-shore, semi-clean and weak.
Expect winds to trend SW all day, increasing to 10 knots this afternoon as a cold front moves towards the coast. This keeps the surf semi-choppy today.
We are coming off a low tide early this morning, high tide will be at 1:25 p.m. The next low tide is at 7:19 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is calling 5.2 ft at 5 seconds in a dominantly short period south/south-west wind swell.
We see shorth-period south-west wind swell in the water today and into Thursday, when winds abate some as a cold front stalls over our marine area. Look for increasing south/south-west winds as this cold front begins to lift north on Friday, bringing slightly bigger choppy south wind swell to Folly Beach Saturday and Sunday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will approach the region from the northwest today, then stall over or nearby our area through Thursday night. The front will slowly lift north on Friday. Another cold front should approach from the northwest early next week.”
It is 79* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 88* with clouds all day and rain; an 80% chance.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8:28 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:21 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
