Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 27 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are thigh to waist high. Occasionally, it’s a little bigger.
Winds are north at 20 to 25 knots, and the surf zone is side-shore, semi-clean and VERY drifty down the beach.
Look for winds to pick up and rotate north-east at 25 to 20 knots late this morning as we have a big north-east blow for mid-week. Surf should build and get very choppy with continued strong drift.
We are coming off a low tide, and high tide will be at 1:48 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:53 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 6.2 ft at 12 seconds in an east swell, with a north-east wind swell 8.2 ft at 8 seconds.
A cold front moved through our marine area last night, and we begin to see a strong north-east blow and corresponding swell for mid-week. This should once again increase east/north-east swell with north-east winds building a high-angled north-east swell today through Thursday. Look for drifty, semi-choppy conditions with a high angle on the swell. This swell rotates more on-shore late week – Friday and Saturday – with smaller surf but better local conditions. We see a coastal low affect our marine area Monday, and more east swell is predicted for early next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Saturday. A cold front will
sweep through Sunday, then a coastal low pressure system could
affect the area early next week.”
It’s a chilly 45* with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Look for clouds this afternoon with a high of 61*
Water temperature is around 60*.
Sunrise is around 7:13 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:36 p.m.
