Girls, this is a good time to get signed up for the Folly Wahine Classic surf contest to be held in early June.
Surf at The Washout is knee high.
Winds are very light from the south-east and surf is textured, weak and fairly clean.
Look for south-east winds at 10 knots this afternoon adding some chop and bump to the surf zone for afternoon.
We have a low tide today at 12:12 p.m., and a high tide at 6:30 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 6 seconds in an easterly swell.
Surf is basically small today. Swell builds Thursday into Friday as low-pressure system and a cold front approach our beaches Thursday and Friday, offering a decent little south-swell for the latter part of the work week. This continues into the weekend as high pressure sets up to our north-west and pushes in spring-time trade-wind swell. Swell should be semi-choppy overall, with moderate south-east winds going south-west by Sunday. So, there is some surf in the forecast. Better get in the water before the doldrums of summer set in.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure should prevail with generally dry and warm weather through early Thursday. A weak low pressure system and a cold front should then bring some unsettled weather Friday through the weekend. Drier high pressure will then likely prevail into the middle of next week.”
It’s 71* with sun this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 78* and sunshine behind passing clouds.
Water temperature is around 72*.
Sunrise is at 6:31 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:02 p.m.
