Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, January 22 at 8:30 a.m.
We are preparing for the Icebox Open, to be held one weekend in February. We will wait for a weekend with good waves and have around $2000 in cash and prizes across the divisions. More details to come.
Surf at the Washout this morning is very small and weak. It is ankle to knee high.
Surf zone is clean and glassy.
Winds are north at 5 knots. We see south-east winds at 5 knots this afternoon, and surf should stay fairly clean.
High tide will be at 10:55 am followed by low tide at 5:16 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 1 ft. at 11 seconds in long period east/south-east ground swell.
Surf stays very small and clean today. We see the potential for a quick shot of small, choppy south-west wind swell Tuesday in the waist to stomach high range as a cold front passes. High pressure moves in for the rest of the work week, leaving us with small surf conditions. We expect a Bermuda high type of system in the Western Atlantic for the weekend with decent off-shore fetch pointed at our beaches. This should keep some decent surf in the forecast for the weekend, so that might be our best bet for some surf this week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today as a weak coastal trough moves inland. A cold front will move through the region Tuesday morning, followed by high pressure through the end of the work week. Another cold front will likely impact the area early next week.”
It is 46* this morning and cloudy. We see sun clouds today and a high of around 65*.
Water temperature is 46*.
Sunset is at 5:42 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:19 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
