Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, May 23 at 8:30 a.m.

Today is my last day at Ocean Surf Shop. I’d like to thanks Bates, Lesa, Evan, Annie, Brett, Catty, Blue, Kevin and Katie for an awesome past 4 years. Probably the most enjoyable job I’ve ever had. Never didn’t want to go to work unless the waves were pumping! I’d like to thank all the loyal customers we have as well as they made my work that much more enjoyable! I’ll see everyone in the water and at the Carolina Surf Film Festival events!

Surf at the Washout is running knee to thigh high. Swell is closing out at the morning’s low tide and doesn’t look great early. Surf might get better as the tide comes in late morning but not expecting too much.

Winds are southwest at 10 to 15, and surf is bumpy and choppy.

We expect southwest winds at 10-20 knots all day, and surf should remain choppy.

Low tide will be at 9:42 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:13 p.m. The next low tide at 10:01 pm.

The Edisto buoy reading 3.3 ft. at 9 seconds in medium period south-easterly swell.

Small kine surf on tap this morning. We have moderate on-shore flow through mid-week, and waves should remain small but rideable Wednesday. Surf should fall off some Thursday into Friday. Before a tropical low pressure system moves into the eastern GOMEX late in the Memorial Day Weekend, bringing more choppy south wind swell late Saturday into early next week. There is some decent surf of varying quality in the forecast through mid-week and for the weekend or so. Get in the water before the doldrums of summer set in.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “The region will remain in a warm and muggy air mass between Atlantic high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west into early next week.”

It is sunny with high clouds this morning and 77*. Look for a mostly cloudy day with a 20% chance of rain and a high of 81*.

Water temperature is now up to around 80*.

Sunset is at 8:16 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:15 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
