Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is around thigh to waist high with stomach high sets. It’s rib high, occasionally. It’s a bit soft at the morning’s high tide, but looks kind of fun.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is clean this morning.
Expect easterly winds around 10 knots throughout the day, creating some chop and a little current in the surf zone.
We have a high tide at 8:36 a.m., and a low tide at 2:36 p.m. The the next high tide is at 9:04 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is 3.3 ft. at 8 seconds in medium period south-east swell and a short period south/south-west wind swell.
We see the remnants of what were tropical storm Beryl moving out of our swell window today, and we have some leftovers to ride this morning. This should fade out some at low tide today, with perhaps some choppy thigh to waist high waves this afternoon as the tide comes in and winds become east at 10 knots. Winds today could become variable in thunderstorms. Swell looks to fade out into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A backdoor cold front will drift south over the region through tonight, then stall and dissipate over southern Georgia this weekend. Another front will approach the region during the second half of next week.”
It is 82* and cloudy at Folly this morning. Look for a high of 86* and a 60% chance of thunderstorms/rain.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8:28 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:21a.m.
